Drake Maye Rallies New England Patriots Past Miami Dolphins 24-19 After Halftime Comeback in the Rain

MIAMI GARDENS.- The New England Patriots turned a 13-3 halftime deficit into a 24-19 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, November 1, at Hard Rock Stadium, scoring three second-half touchdowns behind quarterback Drake Maye on a rainy afternoon in South Florida.

Miami, which had beaten the New York Jets the previous week, looked in control at the break. New England, playing without receiver A.J. Brown because of ankle and knee injuries, trailed 13-3 and had managed only a field goal in the first half.

The comeback started late in the third quarter, when Maye faked a pitch, fooled Dolphins linebacker Willie Gay and ran two yards for a touchdown with 59 seconds left in the period, putting New England ahead 17-13. After an interception by Malik Willis, Maye struck again early in the fourth, hitting DeMario Douglas on a 48-yard catch-and-run touchdown with 12:39 to play to stretch the lead to 24-17.

Miami refused to go away. Willis threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Coleman with 2:04 remaining to cut the gap to 24-19, but New England sealed the game on the next possession: on third-and-5, Rhamondre Stevenson gained five yards for a first down, and Maye kneeled out the clock.

The win improved New England to 5-3. Miami fell to 1-6, back in the loss column after its win over the Jets.
