DNIPRO, UKRAINE.- Rescue workers in Dnipro have completed the search and rescue operation following the Russian attack on the morning of Tuesday, November 3, 2026, which killed two people and injured 20, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, said. "Two dead, 20 injured," Hanzha wrote on his Telegram channel, after an initial count of one person killed and 17 injured was revised upward as the operation unfolded.
Fourteen of the injured were hospitalised, three men in serious condition, Hanzha said. During the search, emergency workers pulled a surviving woman from under the rubble, working under the constant threat of further strikes. The attack at dawn damaged residential buildings, an outpatient clinic of the primary healthcare centre and one of the city's hospitals, where nearly 100 patients were receiving treatment at the time; Hanzha said none of the patients or medical staff were injured, and patients were transferred to other hospitals.
Part of a nationwide barrage that killed 38 in a day
Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov said a hospice in the city was destroyed, forcing the transfer of about 50 terminally ill patients, the oldest 90 years old, to another hospital, and that 20 residential buildings were partially destroyed or damaged. The Dnipro strike was part of a wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine overnight and on Tuesday morning that killed at least 38 people and injured 167 others over the past day, according to regional authorities compiled by the Kyiv Independent, including a strike on a hospital in Kharkiv that wounded 73 people and the attack on an aid distribution point in Komyshuvakha that has now left 31 dead.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched 289 attack drones, 17 ballistic missiles and 59 cruise missiles across nine regions overnight, mostly targeting Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia, and triggering emergency power cuts. The barrage coincided with the United States midterm elections and came days after the end of the longest local ceasefire of the war, in southern Kherson, which had allowed a humanitarian evacuation from the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky.
