Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win 16-0 Without Completing a Pass as Detroit Lions End Minnesota Vikings' Unbeaten Run 19-15 and Jacksonville Jaguars Crush Indianapolis Colts 42-7

The early window of NFL Week 8 on Sunday, November 1, delivered one of the strangest box scores in decades: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons 16-0 without completing a single pass, the Detroit Lions ended the Minnesota Vikings' unbeaten season 19-15, and the Jacksonville Jaguars demolished the Indianapolis Colts 42-7.

In Tampa, the Buccaneers won in pouring rain at Raymond James Stadium behind a rushing attack that piled up 324 yards. Quarterback Baker Mayfield finished 0-for-3 for 0 yards, yet Tampa Bay did not need a completion: Bucky Irving ran for 170 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries, Kenneth Gainwell added a career-high 140 yards on 25 attempts, and the defense intercepted Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. four times. It was the first time an NFL team played an entire game without completing a pass since the 1974 Buffalo Bills, who also won when they did it, beating the New York Jets 16-12. The win left both Tampa Bay and Atlanta at 3-5 in the wide-open NFC South.

In Detroit, the Lions ended the NFL's last unbeaten run. Minnesota, which entered with the league's No. 1 scoring defense, fell 19-15 at Ford Field as Jahmyr Gibbs ran for 153 yards on 23 carries and Jared Goff threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Williams for the decisive score with four and a half minutes left. Detroit improved to 5-2 and avenged two losses to the Vikings last season, while Minnesota dropped to 6-1 after its offense again failed to reach 20 points.

In Jacksonville, the Jaguars routed the Colts 42-7 at EverBank Stadium. Indianapolis quarterback Daniel Jones was pulled after throwing two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and backup Anthony Richardson made his season debut in the fourth quarter. Jacksonville, which entered the game leading the AFC South at 4-2, improved to 5-2, while Indianapolis fell to 2-6.

The late window still to come on Sunday includes the Kansas City Chiefs at the Denver Broncos, the New England Patriots at the Miami Dolphins, and the night game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders.
